I'm going to assume I'm on the friends list of someone obsessive enough to add their whole friends list to look for mutual crushes, and leave it at that, I think. I'm far too scared to contemplate trying to deal with the aftereffects of discovering a genuine mutual crush...

Hmm, have you been on LJ long enough to remember the last secret crush meme?

The person running it decided to sell the data collected (the first person to ask for the list of people who had a crush on a particular LJ user was provided with it for a modest fee – $5 or so, I think).

There was outrage.

There were also a lot of people pointing out that if you're silly enough to trust a complete stranger with information you really don't want made public, then you're really rather foolish...

I'm somewhat surprized that anyone is prepared to complete a crush meme so soon after, even though this looks to be unconnected...
