Bored bored bored bored bored.

And yes, I know I sound like a six year old (since I have two here for reference, one of whom frequently says that), but I hate being ill. I don't have enough concentration to read anything that requires actual intelligence, or even to watch it on TV; daytime TV actively requires a lack of intelligence, but I'm not quite that far gone. I've been reduced to reading huge tracts of livejournal entries of people that I've never met, and almost certainly never will, barring some freak accident. The observant will notice that I spent yesterday reading Hansard, for goodness sake. I have at least managed to stop making the LJ equivalent of drive-by shootings, although some of the comments I did leave... errm... lack a certain degree of coherence. (Yes, over and above anything you'd normally expect of me, for those who've known me a little while...)

All this has, of course, left my sleep patterns random to the extent of not being worthy of the name any more. I seem to fall asleep at entirely unpredictable moments; one bout yesterday left me with a profile of the left edge of my laptop impressed into my arm rather painfully. This comment has taken three hours to write, because it appears that I fell asleep sitting up in bed with the laptop on my knees in the middle of a sentence. On the other hand, I spent most of last night awake, coughing, and feeling utterly miserable and lonely. If I'm reduced to having to watch baseball for company again, someone please kill me; it really would be a kindness...

Have just (well, a few moments ago while hunting for breakfast (*pounce*)) turned on children's TV. Having seen a few seconds of The Tom and Jerry Kids Show, whoever conceived and produced that abomination should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Not all, fortunately, is lost: ITV turned out to have Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, an animated series in which a rather creepy old man and his pet spider (who looks rather like [livejournal.com profile] compilerbitch's toilet monster, only less friendly and more purple) narrated the tale of a barber who cut off the tongues of badly behaved teenagers to make them less obnoxious. Much more suitable viewing :-)

Ahhh, yes, my little cousins have discovered 'Grizzly Tales' also: they being indeed the Gruesome Kids of the title, they love it. and have anew tale for me every time I phone.
I think it was 'Hairy Tales and Nursery Crimes' and the like in our day wasn't it? I don't remember Jackanory getting gory...
