A fun weekend

deborah_cWell, all things considered, the weekend was quite fun.
Saturday was the girls' birthday. They're seven now; it seems almost unbelievable how quickly they're growing up. I think one of my resolutions for the new year, when it comes, should probably be to make sure I don't miss any more of it; the last two years have been quite difficult. In turn, we had their godparents here (well, some of them); then my parents, Liz's parents, Liz's sister and her four children. I think everyone enjoyed themselves... Home-made pizzas and (bought, I'm afraid) birthday cake for tea, with seven children exploring applied ballistics :-)
On Sunday I was off to London again for the afternoon to practice "Trial by Jury". I still have one or two intricate passages which I need to work on before the convention at which they're singing it in February, but that should be OK. I also need to get round to joining Dixseption at some point! (And booking somewhere to stay, and possibly getting in touch with the Portsmouth end of my family, and so on...)
Dreadfully tired by the end of Sunday, though. I fell asleep in the car on the way back from London (despite having drunk a fair amount of coffee), got home, went to bed, was woken by my parents phoning about their Christmas letter at 9ish, went back to sleep, and then woke up when Liz came to bed at 1.30ish. By that point, I was still shattered, but couldn't get back to sleep... sigh...
Hopefully life can now settle down to something a little closer to the chaos that passes for normality in our household! We just have to sort out all the things that haven't got done in the last three weeks of panic, get Christmas sorted out, work out if/when we're seeing the rest of the family, clear up and decorate the house, and... well, sleep at some point, with an ounce of luck.
