Argh. After getting to sleep at 3.30am on Monday night (lying awake fretting) and then 3am last night (out clubbing), I so did not need to be woken by a small girl having a tantrum outside my bedroom door a little after 7am this morning... Right now, I feel vaguely awake, but my digestive system is busy complaining that another few hours lying down and preferably asleep had been what it had in mind...

Anyway. Another fun night at the Calling. I'm finding that I'm still trying to work out exactly where my tastes in music lie, at least for things not written before about 1960, but whatever they turn out to be, last night definitely featured more of them. [livejournal.com profile] deliberateblank's set this week had lots that I didn't recognise but enjoyed, while [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke's seemed to be full of the music I grew up with (although "Barbie Girl" really does transcend any vaguely reasonable definition of "cheese"...) Strangely, despite having disliked and avoided it at the time, it's now definitely the style most likely to inveigle me onto the dance floor, as it did last night. Maybe the first time round I was just trying to stay aloof from the people around me, or something; I wasn't a particularly sociable teenager, to say the least.

Having been a couple of times before, I'm gradually starting to find my feet, I think. (Only metaphorically, as anyone who saw me dancing will quickly realise...) It's much more comfortable going now that there are enough people that I've met before (for some nebulously defined value of "enough"), rather than it being a roomful of strangers, albeit very friendly strangers. Lots more fun people finally to meet properly, most notably [livejournal.com profile] devalmont, [livejournal.com profile] simont, [livejournal.com profile] libellum and various others who (gasp!) might or might not be on LJ. (Edit: ... one of whom was [livejournal.com profile] verte) I also now know infintely more about the history of Downing College than I did before, or indeed ever expected that I would do :) I was rather flagging towards the end of the evening, though; my apologies to anyone who had to put up with my less-than-scintillating conversation late on, and I'll try to remember that 3.30 doesn't constitute "early night before the Calling" next time... Loki's set wasn't quite my thing, so eventually I capitulated and went home a little before the end, along with [livejournal.com profile] necro_angel and Lucy, feeling a little reflective. I did, however, sleep very soundly, until... well, you've heard that bit. Back to real life, with a vengeance... sigh.

Oh dear. Back to work. I do so cherish people who produce 120 page specifications with such loving care and attention that the corrections run to a mere 60 pages... Grr.
