Oooh, which films? When I'm like that, I almost always manage to over-do it on the wine. *pout* But that's compensated by having managed to "let go" for an hour or two.
In this case, Top Secret (which I'd seen before but forgotten lots of, and was in a position this time to appreciate rather more of the references) and Scary Movie 3 (which I hadn't, but was also absolutely what I needed).
I think I probably hit the right balance, more or less, on the wine: that lovely crossover zone of being utterly relaxed (if rather giggly) while still retaining a vestigial ability to stand up and walk. Well, OK, stagger... I admit to one or two "I just actually said that instead of thinking it, didn't I" moments, but that's a hazard of life in general; the wine just changes the probabilities a little :)
I agree completely with the "letting go" part; I'm reminded a little of Roger Rabbit's "Thanks! I really needed that...", in R.K. Maroon's office. It was particularly welcome since this morning's GP appointment, which I thought was going to resolve at least one of the issues that's been getting me down utterly failed to do so, since the specialists I saw a couple of months ago still haven't got round to writing to my doctor... sigh.
Thanks for the befriending, by the way; to answer the unasked question, I came to your journal via nhw, who (along with his wife) is an old friend from college days.
