I wouldn't let that stop you, though I think any sort of flirting based on MPEG standards probably constitutes being extremely sad .. :-).

(Pauses to wonder whether there is an international standard for flirting... no, that way lies madness. There probably is (following in the footsteps (to mix a metaphor, I suppose) of the British Standard Finger), but I'm not going to read it :)

Hmm. Casting my mind back, if either of the possible candidate conversations to which you might be referring counted as "flirting", then either my body language is even more broken than I thought, or I'm not the only one probably to qualify medically as "extremely sad" :)
