Glitter...

... is currently everywhere.

A little while ago, I went to visit a friend for the weekend, and amongst many other pleasures was introduced to Lush. A few days ago, I discovered, rather to my joy (but probably not to that of my bank manager) that we have a branch in Cambridge, which was duly visited in an idle-ish moment between appointments earlier this week.

Now, this morning was one of those warm-and-clammy days, at least where I was, and by lunchtime I was feeling revoltingly icky. So, I thought, if I'm going to have a bath, why not try out one of the Bath Bombs I bought the other day? They've got lovely scent, and it might be quite refreshing...

Let's just say the "bomb" lived up to its name. The bath, the mats next to it, my towels, and most of the places I've been since, not to mention my hair and most of my body are now liberally coated with glitter. The house, I know, is going to get me into trouble, and I'm resigned to that, but I do actually quite like the look for me, at least as a once-in-a-while experiment. Liz on the other hand, feels that it's a perfectly good look, just about, for a 16 year old, but has banned me from leaving the house lest anyone we know actually see me looking like this... Meanwhile, next time the girls do something imaginative but horrendously inappropriate to the bathroom, I don't think I'm going to have a great deal of moral authority :)

In other news, I've had a full-but-fun-and-rather-interesting couple of days. Wednesday was, as they often are, mostly full of medical appointments: my doctor, the speech therapist, and then counselling. Thursday, meanwhile, was hair removal day (ouch!), and then an evening out, meeting [livejournal.com profile] elise for coffee, and then going on to watch films with her and two friends. It's really nice to be able to meet new people, now I finally have the inclination not to try to avoid the entire human race, and the films were definitely different from my normal movie-watching habits at the moment (which tend to be guided by having small children in tow...). I have to admit to a certain amount of involuntary burrowing behind the nearest piece of furniture during some of the more squicky bits, but really enjoyed the films. A pleasant evening all round, and one I hope to be repeating!

Currently thinking about going to an 80's-themed night at one of the Cambridge clubs tonight, which would, I suspect, be several new experiences all in one: I think the closest I've ever been to clubbing would have been youth orchestra discos (which I generally loathed and avoided), and the nearest I've ever been to a dance floor was with three friends attached to various limbs, pulling hard... I suppose I might as well make use of being pre-covered in all this glitter, though :)
