Oh, it's far better than mine. Although hopefully now I'm past the evil deadline of doom mine may get less whingy again. But with Christmas on the way I doubt it.

I don't think we've actually met, I'm just a strange stalker LJ type who needs more to read to distract her from the work she can't do than she currently has... I'm not sure I can count myself as an LSM type - I'm emperors fiancee, and he goes to Selwyn in term and LSM out of term, and when I go to church I go with him. That's not as frequently as it could be though. I keep meaning to sit down and have a Big Think about religion and Stuff when I get the time, but spare time is a valuble commodity in Cambridge :-(

Oh, I see! I must look out for emperor over the next few weeks as well -- again, I don't think we've met, but I think we have quite a number of mutual friends. Do come and say hello if we coincide at LSM (or elsewhere) though!

How do you come to have coursework while doing a PhD, by the way? That seems a little eccentric, somehow.

The engineering department makes its first year PhD students do three of the 4th year modules if they weren't undergrads at Cambridge (or in my case if they were an undergrad in the wrong subject). They even strongly encourage you to do them if you were an engineering undergrad (naomir is doing hundreds) In a way it's quite nice, because it makes the transition to being a Grown Up Student a bit more gradual, and gives you a nice routine of lectures to get you out of bed in the morning, but it was far less nice when the coursework deadline loomed it's ugly head, and I think I'll hate it even more when the exams come round in May...

I should hopefully make it to LSM on Sunday, although I'm sure now I've admitted that's my plan something else will happen... :-/ It'd be nice to meet you!
