My friend is alive. In hospital, but as far as I know not physically harmed, which is definitely a Good Thing. I'm hoping I'll hear more this evening.

Meanwhile (and I suppose this is going to sound rather callous) I've spent the afternoon enjoying the sun at the CUMS garden party. I used to be quite involved with them, and possibly will be again one day, so it was nice to spend some time catching up with people I haven't seen for a year or so. A pleasant afternoon, with the party ranging from Clare Fellows' Garden to the riverbank, and (in some cases) beyond that and into the river, slightly to the consternation of some passing punts. General amusement and entertainment was also provided by a number of pirate punts, which appeared to be at war with the denizens of Trinity Hall, next door... I think I managed to fend off dehydration successfully, with the slight side-effect that my ability to stay vertical is now more than a little impaired :)

Somehow, I think I shall sleep a lot better tonight, on both counts...

By the way, if you want a new person on your list, try saying hello to bellapoetessa. She's in the states, a lovely young gay lady in a poly relationship with two other girls. However, she has had a lot of battles against societal prejudice and depression etc and is a lovely, caring, sensitive person, rather like you appear to be.
