Some time ago, I got friended by [livejournal.com profile] twisted_times. Now, I almost always friend back someone who does this, but this is someone who, as far as I'm aware, I don't know. However, I'm sure one of all you out there must do. Can someone tell me who they are? I'm feeling terribly guilty everytime I see the "also friend of" list...

Alternatively, if [livejournal.com profile] twisted_times wants to say hello, and remind me of the passionate evening we spent together that I've unaccountably forgotten... :-)

Stolen

... from Cambridge station, some time this afternoon, a bike looking rather like this one,

only in black and without the orange reflectors. It's a Radius "Peer Gynt", and says "Peer Gynt" in the white writing toward the front of the frame.

It's quite distinctive: if you're in Cambridge, could you keep an eye out, just on the offchance that someone has stolen it, ridden off, and dumped it? (On the other hand, I don't think it's very likely; anyone trying that without having ridden one before would probably have fallen off... Sigh.)

This is about to turn four hellishly difficult weeks into four completely impossible ones, as I need it to get children to and from school, and to get to work and back. And to have any kind of social life, of course, not that I was doing that much anyway. *headdesk*

Oh, and if anyone's planning to take their bike to the station: the enormous yellow signs all over the place are true. There are cameras all over the place there. However, they're not recorded, and not always watched... This is (IMNSHO) worse than useless; if there hadn't been the signs saying "security patrolled and CCTV monitored", I'd have been a lot more cautious about leaving the bike there in the first place...

I don't suppose you could arrange for something... interesting... to happen to this man, could you?

Anonymice

To the anonymous person who posted my name in the Anonymous Thread Of Doom, thank you. Even if I'm a looking a little askance at your motives (really, "she so needs it"? in that thread? (well, maybe, but not going to happen...))

To the person who sent me the anonymous mail to tell me the thread was there, thank you too.

And to the anonymous commenter (well, both of you, but one wrote a lot more than the other)... wow. I'm speechless, and I'm humbled. Even if, as you've probably guessed, I find it very hard to believe most of what you've said. Thank you so much!

I'm... well, always happy to talk with friends, and if you don't mind admitting to who you are I'd be very happy to have that talk some day. I'm not coping too well with other people at the moment, as you'll understand if you're on my friends list, but somewhere safe, quiet and public might be OK. I'm always emailable, anyway :-)

I'm really very, very touched by all of you; I'm very, very lucky to have my friends.

Edit: And no, this doesn't mean I agree with the commenter that you're all fickle and backstabbing. *headdesk*

I'm content with that. *stretches out in front of the fire to sleep and dry off*

A few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] tnatj asked:

If you were set the task of completing the Harry Potter series of wizarding books, how would you plot the seventh volume? Given the constraints of the previous books and who you think is the target audience, what would you emphasize in both theme and detail?

Note: this is not a query about how you think Ms. Rowling will finish the series; but how you would finish it. Yes, to some extent, this is a bit of a Rorschach test — that's why it's a meme, I suppose. I do have my own inchoate feelings about how I'd do it; but I'd like to hear yours — Hearing yours might crystalize mine.

You may wish to respond in your own blog about this. If so, please provide a link in a comment here.

[Postscript] Oh! Also, discussion of why you made the choices you did in the plot and theme would be most helpful. [/Postscript]

So, seeing as I have all these talented friends who can actually write, but most of whom wouldn't have seen his journal, I thought I should reask the question... Probably best to comment on his entry rather than here.

Meme

I'm actually quite glad that this meme (or this version of it) has resurfaced, actually. It was flying around when I originally got my LJ account, but didn't really know anyone (which would make the answers really rather boring...); since then, it seems to have been growing to monstrous proportions, and I didn't really want to inflict versions three times this size on my friends... However, now I can post it with an easy conscience :-) Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lnr!

  1. Who are you?
  2. Are we friends? When and how did we meet?
  3. Do you have a crush on me?
  4. Would you kiss me?
  5. Describe me in one word.
  6. What was your first impression?
  7. Do you still think that way about me now?
  8. What reminds you of me?
  9. If you could give me anything what would it be?
  10. How well do you know me?
  11. When's the last time you saw me?
  12. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
  13. Are you going to put this on your LiveJournal and see what I say about you?

Tired... and emotional. In both the literal and the metaphorical sense. The latter is, perversely, from going to a church event this afternoon. Well, people kept plying me with sparkling wine... who am I to say no?

Proper update monumentally overdue, as usual, but on the whole I probably ought to do it when I can type straight again.

Ouch

Well, that was stupid.

Struggling with a more-than-usually independently minded shopping trolley, I managed to walk into one of its wheels. Hard. Unfortunately, nice as my soft leather open-toed sandals are, they don't really provide a great deal of protection against this sort of thing. I came home with the frozen peas packed around my foot, and now have a rather lacerated middle toe, which is currently throbbing and turning interesting colours.

Sigh. Boots. That's what I need, nice boots. With steel toecaps, preferably...
